Lots of Pink

My parents moved to a new house when I was 8 years old. I was allowed to pick the color scheme for my bedroom (I no longer had to share a room!) and help decorate. I picked pink. The carpet was pink and my bedspread and curtains were pink butterflies. Later, my parents added wallpaper to one wall in a pink print. Later, they covered the wallpapered wall with paneling in a pink and cream print. My mother, grandmother and great-aunt made me a pink quilt for my bed with matching pillow shams and curtains.

At some point during my middle school years, I got the redecorating bug. I wanted to change my room to purple or to red, black and white. My parents said no, but I really wanted to do something with my room, so I convinced them to paint the walls pink. These would be the other three walls that hadn't already been papered and then panelled in a pink print.

The room was fun and definitely reflected my childhood tastes. As a result though, I grew so sick of pink that I never wanted to touch the color throughout college and most of my 20's. Eventually, I got enough distance from my pink childhood bedroom that I could stomach the color again. It then became a trendy color a few years back, and I now find myself wearing a fair amount of pink.

Here is a sampling of some pink I've worn recently:

Pink and Red Argyle
Pink and Orange Plaid
Pink and Purple Plaid
All Pink
Ballet Pink
Pink Pinstripes
Hot Pink Accents
More Hot Pink Accents
Even More Hot Pink
Today's Skirt the First Time Around

btw, my childhood bedroom still has the pink carpet and walls. My parents put in dark brown wood furniture, and a crisp white quilt and curtains, so the room now has a light airy feel to it, instead of being cloyingly pink. I still sleep there on most of my visits to Pennsylvania.
