Shopaholic & Baby by Sophie Kinsella, 2007
Total brain candy. If you liked the other Shopaholic books, this is typical Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood) catastrophe and recovery. Fun, easy read.
Flow: the Psychology of Optimal Experience by Mihaly Csikszentmihaley, 1990
Interesting book examining the how-to of being happy. Get involved in activities that generate "flow," which the author defines as concentration and involvement in a particular activity. Whether it be sports, dance, music, reading or your job, the more flow-producing activities you have in your life, the happier you will be. The text starts slow, but grows more interesting as it goes. The author is guilty of using too many false dichotomies and straw-man arguments, but if you can read around those, it's a fascinating proposition.
