Pants Transformation

I purchased these pants somewhere around the year 2000. They originally had a generous bootcut bottom with 6-inch slits on the bottom of the leg. The slits gave the leg a lot of movement and the look of a flared pant. I was not too fond of flared legs, so I almost immediately hand-stitched the slits closed. That lasted for several years. Then I stopped wearing the pants b/c I didn't like the generous boot-bottom cut. I much prefer straight and slim cut pants on me, so once those became popular again, I stocked up my closet and started wearing almost exclusively slimmer trousers.

I finally got out my sewing machine and remade the legs on these pants so that they would have a much slimmer fit. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. These were my "experiment" in slimming pant legs. Now that I have some idea of what I'm doing, I have several other boot cut and wider leg pants that I plan to slim down in the next few months.

  4. You did a great job transforming this pants. Way to take an old item and give it a more contemporary fit.
