Dress Your Best Week: Day 2

This week, I am participating in Academichic's Dress Your Best week. The focus is on dressing to accentuate your best parts, rather than focusing on hiding the parts you don't particularly like. For Day 2, my focus is on my slim figure, defined waist and curvy hips, with a repeat focus on my collarbone.

I discovered that I was rather slim when I was in college. I saw photos of me standing next to friends of mine, and my width was noticeably smaller. Prior to that, I never really thought of myself as slim, even though I vaguely remember people commenting on it in high school.

In my mid-20's, I started to dress in more tailored, fitted clothes. When skinny jeans first came back into style, I jumped on the bandwagon immediately (before there even was a bandwagon to jump onto, really). I loved wearing jeans that showed off my slim legs, and pairing them with fitted tees to show off my slim torso.

Despite having a slim figure, I still have curves. My waist is small and defined, and curves out into my small rounded hips. I love this line from indented waist to rounded hips, and I love wearing slim-fitting clothes that allow my subtle curves to be seen.

I searched far and wide to find slim trousers so that I could have slim-fitting work-appropriate clothes. I was able to find a few pairs to purchase, and I also made a few by re-working pants I already had. These pants were one of the pairs that I purchased. I love how the single-breasted buttoned jacket and the slim pants really elongate my body and showcase my slim figure.

Without the jacket, the looser fitting blouse with the wide low neckline shows my collarbone, a reprise on one of yesterday's featured features. I never really thought of my collarbone as an area to showcase until my boyfriend told me that he thought I had a very elegant and beautiful collarbone. I started noticing my collarbone more in the studio mirrors while dancing, and I started to notice magazines commenting on the collarbones of Hollywood stars. So now, I like my collarbone and I sometimes dress to accentuate it. A newly discovered favorite body part!

Please excuse the poor picture quality. I'm not sure why my pictures didn't turn out too well today. An excellent photographer, I am not.

  1. The look, with the jacket, is so professional and chic. I love how just slipping off the jacket transforms it and really shows off one of your fave parts--your collarbones. Pretty!
