Dress Your Best Week: Day 5

This week, I am participating in Academichic's Dress Your Best week. The focus is on dressing to accentuate your best parts, rather than focusing on hiding the parts you don't particularly like. For Day 5, my focus is on my legs. Again.

This week I've dressed to accentuate my legs, defined waist and curvy hips, thin figure, butt and collarbone. Legs were definitely the easiest to accentuate. When I thought about dressing my favorite parts, most of the outfits that popped into my head were featuring my legs. So I have 4 leg outfits, 2 collarbone outfits, and 1 each for the other parts.

When initially thinking about participating in this, my hands and feet also came to mind as favorite body parts. I was at a loss as to how to dress for my feet other than wearing sandals, and it was way too cold for sandals. I don't really dress to show off my hands, since they always show, but I do usually keep my nails longer and polished. The polish draws attention to my hands and the longer nails visually extend my already slender nicely-shaped fingers.

This week has been a lot of fun. I've enjoyed thinking about my favorite parts while deciding what to wear. I'm LOVING reading all the Dress Your Best posts on other blogs. I'm still working my way through the long list of participants at Academichic.

Dress Your Best Week: Day 4

This week, I am participating in Academichic's Dress Your Best week. The focus is on dressing to accentuate your best parts, rather than focusing on hiding the parts you don't particularly like. For Day 4, my focus is on my legs again.

My legs were the first body part I learned to appreciate asthetically. I began receiving compliments on them in high school. I quickly learned that other people thought my legs were attractive. While I knew others thought I had nice legs, it took me a while to actually see my legs as attractive. Once I discovered for myself that I had pretty legs, I would dress occasionally in short skirts to show them off.

Once I started dancing, I learned to appreciate my legs for their flexibility and strength, as well as for their asthetic appeal. Living in the city for the last several years, I've come to appreciate how great it is to be able to walk and use public transportation to get pretty much anywhere rather than having to drive. I again appreciate my legs for their ability to transport me around.

Dress Your Best Week: Day 3

This week, I am participating in Academichic's Dress Your Best week. The focus is on dressing to accentuate your best parts, rather than focusing on hiding the parts you don't particularly like. For Day 3, my focus is on my slim figure and my legs, both repeats.

I didn't take pictures today; I'm reusing a photo from the last time I wore this jacket with these pants and shoes. I had on a different white shirt and silver jewelry today but otherwise the look is pretty much the same.

Dress Your Best Week: Day 2

This week, I am participating in Academichic's Dress Your Best week. The focus is on dressing to accentuate your best parts, rather than focusing on hiding the parts you don't particularly like. For Day 2, my focus is on my slim figure, defined waist and curvy hips, with a repeat focus on my collarbone.

I discovered that I was rather slim when I was in college. I saw photos of me standing next to friends of mine, and my width was noticeably smaller. Prior to that, I never really thought of myself as slim, even though I vaguely remember people commenting on it in high school.

In my mid-20's, I started to dress in more tailored, fitted clothes. When skinny jeans first came back into style, I jumped on the bandwagon immediately (before there even was a bandwagon to jump onto, really). I loved wearing jeans that showed off my slim legs, and pairing them with fitted tees to show off my slim torso.

Despite having a slim figure, I still have curves. My waist is small and defined, and curves out into my small rounded hips. I love this line from indented waist to rounded hips, and I love wearing slim-fitting clothes that allow my subtle curves to be seen.

I searched far and wide to find slim trousers so that I could have slim-fitting work-appropriate clothes. I was able to find a few pairs to purchase, and I also made a few by re-working pants I already had. These pants were one of the pairs that I purchased. I love how the single-breasted buttoned jacket and the slim pants really elongate my body and showcase my slim figure.

Without the jacket, the looser fitting blouse with the wide low neckline shows my collarbone, a reprise on one of yesterday's featured features. I never really thought of my collarbone as an area to showcase until my boyfriend told me that he thought I had a very elegant and beautiful collarbone. I started noticing my collarbone more in the studio mirrors while dancing, and I started to notice magazines commenting on the collarbones of Hollywood stars. So now, I like my collarbone and I sometimes dress to accentuate it. A newly discovered favorite body part!

Please excuse the poor picture quality. I'm not sure why my pictures didn't turn out too well today. An excellent photographer, I am not.

Dress Your Best Week: Day 1

This week, I am participating in Academichic's Dress Your Best week. The focus is on dressing to accentuate your best parts, rather than focusing on hiding the parts you don't particularly like. For Day 1, my focus is on collarbone, legs and butt.

This off-the-shoulder top is great for drawing attention to my collarbone and shoulders. I was not working today (last day off to recover from removal of my wisdom teeth), and I spent most of the day in my apartment and lounging around reading at my local tea house. I chose the leggings because they are super comfortable and they show the shape of my legs while at the same time allowing me to remain covered and thus warm enough.

I was initially thinking of wearing just the t-shirt and leggings, but I felt too undressed for public, even though I do regularly wear less clothes when dancing. Since I wasn't dancing (except during my photo shoot), I added this short skirt to make the outfit just a bit more decent. I feel more dressed, but the skirt is short enough that it still allows my legs to be seen. And, you can still glimpse my cute little butt in the pink skirt.
