Weekend Before Christmas

Saturday morning, Chicago-area bloggers Clare and Sabrina and I met for brunch at Yolk in the South Loop. They are both lovely women and I enjoyed our time together. It was fun to meet people in person who I'd previously only known online!

I spent part of the afternoon Christmas shopping downtown, then met my boyfriend for yummy-flavored caffeine at Argo Tea. In the evening, we went to a Xmas/Birthday party at a friend's house. Great company, good wine, charades and a special performance of The 12 Days of Urban Christmas!

Today I slept in late, then went downtown to see In The Heights, the recent Tony-award winner for best musical. It was a great production. I stopped at the Christkindlmarket on Daley Plaza after the show. Beautiful but crowded.

On weekends, I often wear variations on the same outfit, using many of the same clothing items. Today, I was totally lazy and rushing to get downtown in time for the show, so I just put on the exact same clothes today as I wore yesterday. I'm sure I'm not the only person who occasionally does that, am I?

Black and White and Tan

Today's outfit was inspired by Christine from My Style Pill, who showed two remixes of a black-and-white checked skirt, one outfit for spring and the other for winter. In looking at her winter mix, I immediately thought of this black and white skirt of mine and a similar outfit that I could create with pieces I already owned. Thanks, Christine!

Grey and Black

While wearing this outfit, I checked Facebook and saw a status update from someone saying that boots should never have muffin-top. I don't know. I like the look in moderation. It's also practical: dry, warm feet and pants without limiting myself to only the skinniest of pants in my wardrobe.

Green Tweed Jacket

So I didn't buy Breaking Dawn. There were no English-language copies left in the library, but I tracked down Amanecer, the Spanish-language translation, and checked it out from the library this morning. I haven't gotten too far into it yet, but I have learned that carroceria blindada means armored car. My Mexican-born boyfriend had never heard the word blindada before. He thought I was making it up.

Yellow and Pearls

Court this morning. Appointments and errands today.

I started reading the Twilight series last week. I'm almost finished with Ecplise. I requested Breaking Dawn from the library, but it hasn't come in yet. I may end up buying it in hardback (the only version available) b/c I'm too impatient to wait for the S L O W, S...L...O...W... library. That's what I did with New Moon and Eclipse, although both those are available in paperback.

Catching Up

Work on Friday:

With a performance and cast party every evening last week, and work during the day as usual, I was completely exhausted by the end of the week. I also got lazy with my photos, even to the point of snapping a photo in the mirror in the bathroom at work.

Today I'm getting caught up. I didn't photograph everything that I wanted to over the weekend, but I did get my Friday work outfit, my Friday cast party outfit, and a close-up of my makeup from the opening number of the show.

This week, things should be getting back to normal.

Vest: vintage
Boots: M.I.A.

Cast Party:

Friday night's cast party theme was pajama night. Since it's a Christmas show, I thought it would be appropriate to wear Christmas pajamas.
