The Skinny

Busy day today prepping for court. I wanted to wear something a little edgier today, since I'll be in full suit mode for the next few days. I don't know if you can see in the pictures (click on them to make them bigger), but I'm wearing black eyeliner today. I always feel a little edgier with black eyeliner. Black skinnies don't hurt either.

Where:
errands in my neighborhood, work, lunch with a friend

What:
Jacket: Express
T-shirt: Mossimo for Target
Black Skinnies: Delia's
Celtic Cross Necklace: from St.-Martin-in-the-Fields

Labor Day

I was taking pictures in the yard at my boyfriend's house this afternoon, which is on a busy street near a busy intersection. There was a man selling bottled water to cars stopped at the red lights. The water guy was fascinated by my picture-taking, wanting to know if I had a timer or a remote (timer) and if my camera is instant and if I can view the pictures right away (I can).

Where:
Ikea, housing hunting, hanging out at my boyfriend's house eating boeuf bourguignon and peach cobbler (he's a good cook!)

What:
Sweater: Rave
White Tank: Tommy Hilfiger (from the men's section at Marshall's)
Grey Jeans: London Jeans
Shoes: Etienne Aigner
Peace Sign Earrings: World Market

Comfortable Crop

I bought these pants several years ago on a trip to St. Louis. I didn't wear them often because they have a full leg and they had flared bottoms with a slit, which just made them look more flared. They're very comfy though, so a week ago I cut them off so I could wear them as casual shorts.

Where:
loafing around my neighborhood

What:
Yellow Top: H&M
White Tank: Tommy Hilfiger (from the men's dept at Marshall's)
Shorts: Express (altered)
Flips: Old Navy
Clutch: vintage

Argyle and Pink

I purchased this argyle sweater vest several years ago on a shopping trip with my mom in Pennsylvania, where I grew up. The vest was one of those deals that looked like two shirts but was actually only one. It had sleeves and a collar and a shirt tail so that it looked like it was being worn over a pink polo shirt. After a year or so, the polo parts started looking really worn and faded, so I cut them out. I still tend to wear the now-solo vest over the same shade of pink. I need to make an effort to vary from the pink pairing this winter.

I used to wear my hair in a lazy ponytail all the time before I cut it short last winter. Now, it's getting long enough that I can pull it into a ponytail again. Yay! to the return of lazy morning hairdos.

Where:

Skirt: Forever XXI
Tights: H&M

Shorts and Tights

Today was my first day using my new gorillapod to take photos. Yay! That means I can easily take pictures in locations other than my apartment and my alley. No lugging the full-sized tripod around. The gorillapod will definitely be helpful on days that I'm rushing too much to take pictures in the morning. Instead of trying to get home before sunset, I can just take pictures downtown over lunch.

I had planned to wear this outfit a week or two ago, but between erratic weather and my schedule of court appearances and client appointments, it never seemed appropriate to wear shorts and a cardigan or cool enough for all the layers on top. So I just forgot about it.

Then on Sunday, I saw Clare at Between Laundry Days wearing a great shorts and tights combo, and I was inspired to get this outfit back out and make it work one day this week.

Button-Down: Express
Cami: Wet Seal
